Quarterback Aaron Rodgers of the Pittsburgh Steelers has affirmed his intention to conclude his NFL journey as a Green Bay Packer. His 18-year tenure with the Packers has been pivotal to his career, where he earned a spot among the league's top performers. Rodgers expressed heartfelt gratitude for the bonds forged during his years in Green Bay.
Rodgers was selected in the first round of the 2005 draft by the Packers, leading them to a Super Bowl championship after the 2010 season. During his impressive career, he became synonymous with the franchise, earning four MVP awards and reaching several key milestones. He regards Green Bay as the cornerstone of his professional life and is determined to retire in the team's colors.
After being traded to the New York Jets for the 2023 season, Rodgers faced challenges, including a torn Achilles in his first game, which ended his season early. He made a modest return in 2024 before joining the Steelers in 2025. Currently, Pittsburgh boasts a 4-2 record as they gear up to compete against Green Bay.
Rodgers conveyed his respect for the Packers organization, stating, “I don’t harbor any negativity toward the team.” While acknowledging that his last season in Green Bay didn't meet his expectations, he treasures the lasting relationships with colleagues and teammates. The upcoming Sunday Night Football game serves as a chance for connection rather than revenge.
Leading the NFL this season with an impressive 8.1% touchdown rate, Rodgers has accumulated 14 touchdown passes against five interceptions, completing 68.6% of his throws for 1,270 yards. Throughout his illustrious career, he ranks fourth in NFL history with 517 touchdown passes, fifth in passing yards at 64,222, sixth in completions with 5,487, and seventh in attempts at 8,417.
Previously stating that the 2025 season would mark his final campaign, Rodgers maintains his intent to retire with the Packers, honoring the franchise that shaped his extraordinary legacy. He remains dedicated to finishing the season strong while valuing his connections to Green Bay.
As Aaron Rodgers approaches the end of a remarkable NFL career, his bonds with Green Bay endure. Although he currently plays for the Steelers, his retirement will celebrate the team and city that laid the foundation for his legendary journey in professional football.
