Sabrina Carpenter Slams White House Over Song Use

Sabrina Carpenter Slams White House Over Song Use

Post by : Meena Ariff

The White House is facing strong criticism from pop star Sabrina Carpenter after using her song “Juno” in a video showing law enforcement actions related to immigration.

Carpenter, a Grammy-winning singer and songwriter, called the video “evil and disgusting” and warned, “Do not ever involve me or my music to benefit your inhumane agenda.” Her publicist referred inquiries to Carpenter’s social media post.

On her tour, Carpenter playfully stages mock “arrests” with celebrities while performing “Juno,” passing around pink fluffy handcuffs.

Despite her criticism, the White House responded by quoting Carpenter’s own lyrics: “Here’s a Short n’ Sweet message for Sabrina Carpenter: we won’t apologize for deporting dangerous criminal illegal murderers, rapists, and pedophiles from our country. Anyone who would defend these sick monsters must be stupid, or is it slow?” — said spokesperson Abigail Jackson.

The video remained online on X and TikTok as of Tuesday afternoon.

This is not the first time songs have been used without consent. Last month, a video featuring Olivia Rodrigo’s “All-American Bitch” was disabled on Instagram after her objection, though it still appeared on X. Similarly, videos using Usher’s “Hey Daddy (Daddy’s Home)” and Taylor Swift’s “The Fate of Ophelia” were posted, with different responses from the artists.
