Bollywood Musician Sachin Sanghvi Detained Amid Sexual Assault Allegations

Bollywood Musician Sachin Sanghvi Detained Amid Sexual Assault Allegations

Post by : Meena Ariff

Bollywood artist and composer Sachin Sanghvi, renowned as part of the music duo Sachin-Jigar, was taken into custody on Thursday, October 23, over allegations of sexual assault. The accusations suggest that Sanghvi assured a woman a part in his forthcoming music album and even proposed marriage prior to the alleged misconduct.

The accuser, a woman in her twenties, stated that she was first contacted by Sachin in February last year through Instagram. He purportedly offered her a role in his music endeavors and subsequently exchanged phone numbers for further communication.

According to her allegations, she was invited to Sanghvi’s music studio, where he reportedly proposed marriage and is said to have assaulted her multiple times thereafter. The complaint has been lodged under pertinent sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Sachin Sanghvi’s attorney, Aditya Mithe, vehemently denied the accusations. In a statement to the media, Mithe asserted, “The claims made in the FIR against my client are entirely unfounded and lack any basis. The case holds no merits whatsoever.” He emphasized that his client’s arrest was unjust, explaining, “This is why he was granted immediate bail. We are prepared to contest all allegations thoroughly and unequivocally.”

Currently, Sachin Sanghvi has not made any public remarks regarding the incident, and his official Instagram handle, @soulfulsachin, has been disabled. Moreover, his musical counterpart Jigar has remained silent on the issue.

Sachin-Jigar are celebrated in Bollywood for their chart-topping tracks. Their recent compositions include the music for the Diwali film Thamma, starring Rashmika Mandanna and Ayushmann Khurrana. Their previous work on Stree 2, particularly the hit song “Aaj Ki Raat,” received widespread acclaim.

The arrest of Sachin Sanghvi occurs during a heightened scrutiny phase of the Indian film sector concerning consent and harassment matters. This situation underscores the difficulties aspiring talent may face in an industry rife with opportunities but also vulnerabilities related to exploitation.

Law enforcement officials have confirmed that the inquiry is ongoing, and further legal developments are anticipated shortly. The case has ignited conversations across various social media channels, with fans and industry stakeholders reacting with astonishment and concern over the developments.

As the legal proceedings progress, focus remains on conducting a fair and comprehensive investigation, while safeguarding the rights of all individuals involved.
