Beloved actor and comedian Satish Shah, celebrated for his unparalleled comic flair, has passed at the age of 74 due to kidney failure. He was receiving treatment at Hinduja Hospital when he departed. His loss has been deeply felt among fans and peers across the industry.
Born in 1951 into a Gujarati family in Bombay State, Shah's acting journey began in the 1970s. He gained fame with the 1984 sitcom Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, demonstrating his remarkable ability by embodying 55 distinct characters. His notable roles in sitcoms like Filmi Chakkar and Ghar Jamai further solidified his place in comedy, while his portrayal of Indravadan Sarabhai in the iconic series Sarabhai vs Sarabhai (2004-06) became legendary.
Shah’s film contributions are equally noteworthy. He made his debut in Bhagwan Parshuram (1970) and went on to star in Umrao Jaan, Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyun Aata Hai, and the cult favorite Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, earning acclaim for his comic timing. In the 90s and 2000s, he appeared in blockbuster hits like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, Hero No. 1, Main Hoon Na, and Fanaa. His final film role was in Humshakals (2014).
