The people and government of Saudi Arabia are proudly joining the United Arab Emirates in commemorating the UAE’s 54th Union Day. This significant occasion marks the founding of the UAE, with Saudi Arabia demonstrating respect and solidarity for this national celebration. Both nations have a longstanding tradition of cooperation and friendship that has evolved over the years.

The formation of the UAE occurred on December 2, 1971, when leaders from Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, and Fujairah united to create a new federal entity. They enacted a provisional constitution that guided the nascent nation in its formative years. Subsequently, Ras Al Khaimah joined the federation on February 10, 1972, thereby solidifying the union and enhancing the framework of this emerging nation. This unity catalyzed a significant era of progress and national development across the UAE.

The connection between Saudi Arabia and the UAE transcends mere political collaboration. The two nations share intertwined histories, similar cultures, and strong geographical proximities, fostering a lasting and amicable relationship. Citizens from both sides enjoy a profound sense of kinship, which has fostered trust and solidarity on various fronts.

Under the guidance of King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the friendship between Saudi Arabia and the UAE has flourished even further. Both leaders prioritize cooperation, regional stability, and mutual advancement, facilitating collaboration on vital matters such as security, economic growth, and social development.

Today, the UAE stands as a prominent example of unity within the Arab world. Over the past half-century, it has established a robust and stable governmental framework while achieving remarkable advancement in education, technology, infrastructure, tourism, and international relations. Thus, Union Day serves as a compelling symbol of pride for the UAE and its allies, including Saudi Arabia.
