In the wake of severe flash floods impacting the Himalayan region, rescue teams in Nepal are working tirelessly to reach dozens of workers trapped inside hydropower tunnels. Following their efforts, hopes rose as two workers were rescued on Friday from the Trishuli 3A tunnel. While the rescue efforts have yielded hope, the recovery of a deceased individual within the same Trishuli 3A tunnel underscored the dire reality of the situation. Authorities indicated the body was unrecognizable and a total of 39 individuals may still be trapped within, igniting urgency among rescue teams to clear paths safely and swiftly.

The Trishuli site is just one of several locations where workers are reported missing, with over 150 individuals thought to be trapped across seven hydropower tunnels.
