A devastating fire broke out in the Raheja Residency in Vashi, Navi Mumbai, claiming the lives of four residents and leaving 10 others injured. The blaze reportedly started around 12:30 am on the 10th floor of the multi-storey residential building and quickly spread to the 11th and 12th floors. Fire officials and police rushed to the site, and the fire was finally brought under control by 4 am, but not before causing significant damage and loss of life.
The victims included two women, a man, and a six-year-old girl. Authorities said the injured, who suffered from burns and smoke inhalation, were rushed to nearby hospitals in Vashi for treatment. Police and fire officials confirmed that a total of 40 fire brigade personnel with eight fire tenders were involved in controlling the blaze, working tirelessly through the early hours of Tuesday.
The cause of the fire at Raheja Residency is still under investigation. Officials have stated that it is too early to determine what triggered the fire, and forensic teams are likely to inspect the flats and electrical systems to uncover the reason. Meanwhile, residents of the building are reeling from the tragedy, with neighbors describing the chaos and fear as the fire spread rapidly across multiple floors.
This fire at Raheja Residency highlights the urgent need for safety measures in high-rise buildings. Experts stress that regular fire drills, proper installation of fire alarms, and quick emergency response can significantly reduce casualties in such emergencies. Residents and local authorities are now assessing damage and ensuring that those affected receive medical attention and support.
Authorities have appealed to the public to remain calm and cooperate with ongoing investigations. Meanwhile, emergency teams continue to survey the affected floors for any remaining hazards. The tragic Navi Mumbai fire serves as a stark reminder of the risks associated with urban living and the importance of stringent fire safety measures in multi-storey residential buildings.
