His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, welcomed the Right Honourable Mark Carney, Prime Minister of Canada, to discuss enhancing the longstanding relationship between their nations. The Canadian Prime Minister's official visit was marked by a warm reception at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi.
Both leaders reflected on over fifty years of partnership, expressing their commitment to expanding collaboration in vital sectors. These include investment, trade, technology, artificial intelligence, clean energy, climate action, education, culture, and sustainability.
The dialogue extended to regional and global issues of mutual interest, with both parties reaffirming their dedication to fostering peace, security, and stability. They underscored the role of multilateral cooperation to achieve shared prosperity across nations.
H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed highlighted the UAE-Canada relationship as a benchmark for effective collaboration aimed at mutual development and global prosperity. He noted that both nations align on critical issues that advocate for growth, peace, and international partnership.
Prime Minister Carney praised the progress of bilateral relations and reiterated Canada’s eagerness to enhance cooperation in sectors that align with both countries' interests, emphasizing that their collaboration contributes positively to global peace and prosperity.
As part of the visit, an agreement promoting investment protection was signed, intended to foster economic cooperation, support strategic investments, and achieve shared development aspirations. H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan represented the UAE, while Prime Minister Carney signed on behalf of Canada.
Moreover, a memorandum of understanding on investment cooperation was announced, solidifying their intent to deepen economic ties and explore fresh opportunities for collaboration.
The meeting was attended by prominent UAE officials, including H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed, and H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohamed bin Zayed, along with other ministers and high-ranking officials.
This pivotal visit and the subsequent agreements signify the robust partnership between the UAE and Canada. Both nations are set on a path to boost cooperation in trade, investment, technology, and sustainable growth, ensuring enduring benefits for their populations and contributing to both regional and global stability.
Through these initiatives, the UAE and Canada reaffirm their commitment to a future built on collaboration, shared growth, and mutual respect, strengthening ties that have evolved over five decades.
