A pivotal moment for UAE-India trade relations unfolded in Mumbai as Abu Dhabi Customs and India's Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) finalized an agreement to establish a Trusted Digital Trade Corridor under the CEPA framework.
This agreement was signed during the Abu Dhabi Investment Forum, with notable presence from officials of both countries. It was officially endorsed by Rashed Lahej Al Mansoori, Director General of Abu Dhabi Customs, and Shri Vimal Kumar Srivastava, Chief Commissioner of Customs for Mumbai Zone-II, alongside prominent UAE dignitaries.
Both parties reiterated their commitment to revolutionizing cross-border trade via digital innovation, real-time data exchanges, and secure automated workflows. The envisioned Trusted Digital Trade Corridor is set to enhance transparency and expedite customs processes by merging the trade systems of the UAE and India.
The alliance looks to create a cohesive technical foundation with the collaborative efforts of both public and private sectors. The pilot initiative aims to develop a scalable framework that facilitates smooth digital trade and accelerates clearance times, while minimizing manual delays.
Officials from both nations indicated that insights gained from the pilot project will inform a long-term strategy for establishing reliable digital trade channels, further bolstering their strategic economic alliance and advancing modernization of customs processes.
