Sheikh Tahnoon Engages US Delegation on Gaza Ceasefire Talks

H.H. Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Advisor, received US Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff alongside Jared Kushner during their visit to the UAE. The discussions centered around the latest developments related to the ceasefire in Gaza, assessing ongoing efforts to cement the agreement established via US President Donald Trump’s plan.

The UAE leader acknowledged the crucial role played by the US President in the push to resolve the Gaza conflict. He underscored the significant contributions from Witkoff and Kushner in advancing peace initiatives, labeling their collective endeavor as essential for fostering regional stability and safeguarding civilian lives amid persisting tensions.

Throughout the discussions, Sheikh Tahnoon stressed the urgent need to prevent further hostilities and to cultivate scenarios that favor enduring peace. He asserted that the cessation of conflict would enhance prospects for economic development, prosperity, and sustainable growth within the Middle East.

The meeting also examined actionable strategies to boost cooperation between the UAE and the US concerning regional security. Sheikh Tahnoon reaffirmed the UAE’s unwavering commitment to promoting dialogue and collaboration aimed at restoring peace in conflict-prone regions. He emphasized that diplomatic efforts are vital for addressing crises and furthering humanitarian goals.

Both parties acknowledged the strategic importance of stabilizing Gaza and its implications on regional balance. The conversation incorporated methods to facilitate humanitarian assistance, shield civilians, and create a conducive setting for durable peace agreements. Officials highlighted the necessity of robust communication and collaboration to avert renewed conflict and effectively uphold the ceasefire.

The UAE delegation reiterated its support for US-led measures aimed at facilitating conflict resolution. Sheikh Tahnoon reaffirmed the UAE’s positioning as a mediator in regional issues and expressed readiness to collaborate with international partners to foster peace and stability. The meeting concluded with a mutual resolution to persist in diplomatic endeavors, enhance bilateral relations, and advance sustainable development initiatives throughout the Middle East.
