UAE Greets GCC Higher Education Delegation for Expertise Exchange

UAE Greets GCC Higher Education Delegation for Expertise Exchange

Post by : Maya Rahman

Recently, the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) welcomed a delegation from the higher education ministries of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states. This visit is part of ongoing efforts to foster collaboration following the 24th Meeting of GCC Ministers of Higher Education, held in Doha, Qatar, last year. The initiative aims to facilitate regular exchanges amongst member nations to share knowledge, adopt best practices, and enhance higher education frameworks and rankings globally.

The delegation comprised officials from academic accreditation bodies, universities, and planning and development authorities across the GCC. They examined several strategic initiatives underway in the UAE that aim to elevate the higher education sector. Notable projects included the establishment of the National Qualifications Recognition System, which streamlines processes, improves data integrity, and facilitates digital integration among institutions.

MoHESR also highlighted measures to combat academic fraud through digital oversight and proactive monitoring, ensuring student security and educational quality. Conversations encompassed updates on international university rankings and the UAE's outcome-based evaluation framework, which aligns higher education achievements with labor market demands, emphasizing research and skill development.

The agenda included visits to Khalifa University and Mohamed bin Zayed University for Artificial Intelligence (MBZUAI), offering delegates an insight into the UAE’s pioneering education models and advanced scientific research. This initiative underscores the GCC countries' dedication to enhanced collaboration, knowledge sharing, and preparing future leaders for the region's advancement.
