Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and a high-level Vietnamese delegation returned to Hanoi on June 19 after successfully completing a working visit to Russia from June 16 to 18. The trip included participation in the ASEAN-Russia Summit marking the 35th anniversary of relations between ASEAN and Russia, along with a series of bilateral engagements in Kazan, Republic of Tatarstan.
The visit was made at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin and focused on strengthening diplomatic, economic, and strategic cooperation between Vietnam and Russia.
Participation in ASEAN-Russia Summit
During the visit, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung joined ASEAN leaders at the plenary session and working lunch of the ASEAN-Russia 35th Anniversary Summit. He also attended the opening ceremony of the ASEAN-Russia Business Forum, highlighting Vietnam’s commitment to expanding regional and international cooperation.
Vietnam’s participation helped reinforce its active role within ASEAN and its contribution to strengthening ASEAN-Russia relations.
High-Level Meetings With Russian Leaders
The Prime Minister held a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and also met Rustam Minnikhanov, Head of the Republic of Tatarstan. Discussions focused on expanding bilateral cooperation across trade, investment, energy, technology, and regional development.
He also received senior executives from the Russian Direct Investment Fund, Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corporation, and Zarubezhneft to discuss future cooperation opportunities.
Trade and Investment Cooperation Expanded
A key part of the visit was promoting economic and business ties between the two countries. Prime Minister Le Minh Hung attended a Vietnam-Russia trade and investment connection program and witnessed the signing of several cooperation agreements between businesses from both nations.
The agreements are expected to support investment growth and create new opportunities for companies operating in strategic sectors.

New Air Routes Announced
During the visit, the Prime Minister announced the opening of three new Vietjet Air routes connecting Vietnam and Russia. The new services are expected to improve tourism, business travel, and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.
The announcement was welcomed as another step toward strengthening connectivity and economic cooperation.
Engagement With Vietnamese Community
Prime Minister Le Minh Hung also met officials and staff of Vietnam’s Embassy and Consulate General in Russia, as well as members of the Vietnamese community living in the country.
He praised their contributions to strengthening friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Russia while encouraging continued support for bilateral relations.
Visit Strengthens Strategic Partnership
Vietnamese officials described the working visit as highly successful, helping advance agreements reached previously between Vietnamese and Russian leaders. Both sides exchanged views on measures to deepen cooperation and create new momentum for the long-term Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
The visit further reaffirmed Vietnam’s role as a bridge between ASEAN and Russia while supporting broader goals of economic development, regional cooperation, and international engagement.
