Tamil actor and producer Vishnu Vishal has opened up about his battles within the Tamil film industry, despite the acclaim from his hit thriller Ratsasan released in 2018. While promoting his new film Aaryan, Vishnu expressed his disappointment regarding the inadequate support from producers and fellow actors, stating that it “pains” him.
Challenges with Producers
Discussing the roadblocks in realizing his projects, Vishnu shared that numerous films have encountered obstacles when producers withdrew at pivotal moments.
“For Gatta Kusthi, we faced last-minute refusals from six producers. In the case of Velainu Vandhutta Vellaikaaran, four producers shifted, and for FIR: Faizal Ibrahim Raiz, three backed out. Nine films post-Ratsasan were also abandoned,” he mentioned.
He elaborated that these challenges pushed him to venture into film production himself.
“I believe I don’t deserve this treatment as a person. It deeply saddens me. Even after successful films like Gatta Kusthi and FIR, I had to endure a three-year wait for my next project. That’s why I established my own production house. Once I took charge, my latest film hit theatres within a year,” he added.
Lack of Recognition from Peers
The actor also conveyed his disappointment about the absence of acknowledgment from his colleagues in the industry.
“I’ve noticed that when my films do well, none of the actors I respect reach out to congratulate me personally. Instead, they prefer to contact the director when the film succeeds, setting up meetings for future endeavors without including me. Such incidents are disheartening,” he revealed.
Cinematic Journey and Future Projects
Vishnu Vishal began his acting career in 2009 with Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu. Over time, he has engaged in various roles, both as an actor and producer under his brand, Vishnu Vishal Studioz.
Earlier this year, his production house brought out the romantic comedy Oho Enthan Baby, featuring his cousin Rudra in the lead role.
His next venture, Aaryan, directed by debutant Praveen K, is also under his production. The film is expected to hit theatres on October 31.
