A 46-year-old woman has been arrested after a fire broke out in a Housing and Development Board (HDB) flat at Block 512 Wellington Circle in Sembawang on June 30. Emergency services responded to the incident after receiving an alert at around 5:15 pm.
Bedroom Engulfed in Flames
The fire was confined to a bedroom in a unit located on the 10th floor of the residential block. Firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control using a water jet, preventing the fire from spreading to nearby units.
Woman Hospitalised for Smoke Inhalation
The woman was found conscious at the scene and was taken to Singapore General Hospital after suffering from smoke inhalation. After receiving medical attention, she was later arrested in connection with the incident.
Preliminary Probe Suggests Deliberate Fire
Authorities said preliminary investigations indicate that the fire was deliberately started. The woman has been arrested on suspicion of mischief by fire, while investigators continue gathering evidence to determine the full circumstances surrounding the case.

Residents Witness Thick Smoke and Flames
Witnesses reported seeing thick black smoke and flames shooting from the apartment windows. Several residents gathered outside the building as emergency personnel secured the area and carried out firefighting operations.

Police and fire investigators are continuing their examination of the scene to establish the exact sequence of events. Authorities have not released additional details as investigations remain ongoing.
