Pooja Batra's Inspiring Fitness Journey at 49: Mixed Martial Arts, Yoga, and Hiking

Pooja Batra's Inspiring Fitness Journey at 49: Mixed Martial Arts, Yoga, and Hiking

Post by : Saif Rahman

At the age of 49, actress Pooja Batra, who celebrated her birthday on October 27, continues to motivate her fans with the belief that true fitness goes beyond appearance, focusing instead on inner balance and joy. The former Miss India and renowned Bollywood actress emphasizes the profound connection between mental and physical wellness, advocating for equal commitment to both.

In an earlier interview, Pooja unveiled her fitness regimen that keeps her vibrant and energized as she nears 50. Her dynamic routine features a blend of mixed martial arts (MMA), yoga, pranayama, and hiking, all of which contribute to her mental and physical fortitude.

Residing in Los Angeles, Pooja holds a brown belt with two black stripes in MMA, having trained rigorously three days a week for six years. She regards martial arts as a holistic workout for both mind and body, stating, “MMA significantly benefits physical and mental health. Mastering moves using both sides of the body engages various parts of the brain and promotes long-lasting mental activity.”

Pooja’s fitness mantra is straightforward yet profound: “When you invest quality into your body, you become valuable.” She elaborates that the way one nourishes their body directly affects energy levels and appearance. For her, striking a balance through mindful eating and movement fosters well-being, turning fitness into a pursuit of joy rather than a source of stress.

In addition to martial arts, she is also a certified yoga instructor, often highlighting how yoga has enhanced her calm and mindful existence. She explains, “To truly flourish as a human, one requires satva, or balance. Yoga and MMA provide that equilibrium.” In August 2021, she completed her first yoga retreat in Nosara, Costa Rica, and has embraced both practicing and instructing ever since.

Pooja’s love for nature is evident in her passion for hiking. Her adventurous nature has led her across some of the planet's most stunning and challenging trails, including the base camps of Mount Everest, Mont Blanc, and Mount Baldi in Yosemite. For her, hiking serves as a means to escape daily pressures and reconnect with her inner serenity.

Pooja’s fitness philosophy harmonizes strength, discipline, and mindfulness. She ardently believes in nurturing the body, sharpening the mind, and nourishing the soul — a balance she upholds through her regular practices of exercise, meditation, and self-care. Whether executing martial arts techniques, practicing yoga, or conquering steep trails, she exemplifies that a blend of dedication and equilibrium unlocks lasting fitness.

Even at 49, she challenges societal notions of fitness age limits, reminding her fans that maintaining good health is a lifelong duty, not a fleeting target. By integrating rigorous workouts like MMA with soothing practices such as yoga and pranayama, she showcases that authentic wellness arises from a blend of strength and tranquility.

Pooja’s narrative serves as an encouragement for anyone who thinks fitness is reserved for the young. She embodies the idea that, with the right mindset and consistent habits, anyone can achieve strength, confidence, and happiness — regardless of age.

Her message resonates loud and clear: nurture your body, fill your mind with positivity, and pursue each day with intention. She aptly summarizes, “Fitness is essential for happiness.”
