A coach with more than 17 years in the fitness and nutrition field has highlighted four straightforward mindset adjustments that can support long-term health and durable weight loss. Raj Ganpath told followers that lasting results come from everyday habits sustained over years, not from quick, dramatic fixes.
In an Instagram post, Ganpath pointed out how many people chase immediate outcomes through extreme diets, cleanses or intense short-term challenges, which often do more harm than good. "I am fit today not because of something special I did in the last two months but because of many small things I did consistently over the last 20 years," he wrote, underlining the power of gradual consistency.
He distilled his approach into four actionable mindset shifts anyone can adopt to build healthier routines for the long haul.
1. You won’t be perfect every day
Ganpath emphasised that expecting perfection is unrealistic. Busy schedules and unexpected events mean some days won’t go as planned. The useful aim is steady progress: "You won’t do everything each day, but you can follow most healthy choices most of the time," he advised, suggesting a focus on overall patterns rather than isolated slips.
2. Steer clear of drastic short-term overhauls
He cautioned against sudden, sweeping changes like eliminating entire food groups or exercising excessively for brief periods. Such leaps are hard to sustain. Instead, Ganpath recommends incremental adjustments that are easier to maintain and integrate into daily life: small changes add up over months and years.
3. Prioritise effort-based targets over outcome-based ones
Ganpath urged people to set goals they can control. Replace result-focused aims—such as losing a specific number of kilos—with actionable commitments like walking 30 minutes every day or increasing vegetable portions. He noted that consistent effort naturally produces results: "You can’t control outcomes, but you can control your effort."
4. Combine compassion with firm standards
The coach said successful routines require both kindness and accountability. Be forgiving when you falter, but firm when excuses start to replace effort. Balancing self-compassion with clear expectations helps sustain habits and prevents occasional setbacks from derailing long-term progress.
Ganpath’s guidance reinforces the wider view that fitness is a long-term endeavour—one that benefits from patience and small, repeatable acts. His followers responded positively, saying the guidance made consistent healthy living feel more achievable.
Health professionals also stress that mindset matters: quick fixes may yield short-lived changes, but real improvements stem from modest, regular behaviours that become part of daily life.
