Singapore, August 31, 2026: A 25-year-old Indian national has been charged with murder following the death of a 29-year-old man in Singapore’s Tuas industrial district. The accused, Muruganathan Kathirvel, is alleged to have attacked Raj Maheshkumar with a chopper on the night of Aug 29. According to the charge, the attack caused injuries to the victim’s neck area and resulted in his death. The incident has led to a Singapore murder case that is now before the courts.
Singapore Police received a call for assistance at around 10.10pm on Aug 29. The reported location was along Tuas South Street 15, in the direction of Tuas South Avenue 14. When officers reached the area, they found the 29-year-old victim lying motionless on the road. A paramedic subsequently pronounced him dead at the scene. The case is being investigated as a Tuas murder.
Police arrested Kathirvel less than four hours after the incident. Preliminary investigations indicate that the accused and the deceased were known to each other. The prosecution alleges that Kathirvel used a chopper during the confrontation. The exact circumstances leading to the alleged attack remain subject to the ongoing legal process.
Kathirvel appeared in court on Aug 31 and is scheduled to return in September. The case will continue through the Singapore court system as investigations and legal proceedings progress. A person facing a criminal charge is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
According to the charge, the alleged attack took place at around 10pm on Aug 29 along Tuas South Avenue 9. The victim later died at the location. The incident has drawn attention because it occurred in Singapore’s Tuas industrial area, a major industrial zone in the western part of the country.
