Dubai Police Caution Residents About Begging and Unlicensed Butchers

Dubai Police Caution Residents About Begging and Unlicensed Butchers

Post by : Badri Ariffin

Dubai Police are advising residents to refrain from interacting with beggars and unauthorized butchers, particularly during significant celebrations such as Eid Al Adha.

Last year, approximately 50 individuals were apprehended for begging and butchering without licenses, highlighting ongoing enforcement efforts throughout the emirate.

Brigadier Ali Salem Al Shamsi from the Criminal Phenomena Department of Dubai Police’s General Department of Criminal Investigation emphasized that their “Anti-Begging” initiative continues to combat this issue in collaboration with strategic partners.

He noted that begging manifests in various arenas, including markets, public spaces, and places of worship. Authorities also issued warnings about online “e-begging” and fraudulent donation appeals circulating on social media.

Dubai Police reported that some individuals exploit vulnerable groups—like children, the ill, and people of determination—to unlawfully gather funds from citizens.

Residents are encouraged to donate strictly through recognized charitable organizations to ensure assistance reaches legitimate beneficiaries through proper channels.

Furthermore, police caution against the dangers of hiring roaming butchers, as these unlicensed practices can pose significant health threats due to unsanitary conditions and the use of unsterilized tools.

Anyone witnessing begging or illegal butchering can report incidents by dialing 901, using the Police Eye service via the Dubai Police app, or accessing the e-Crime platform for cases of online begging.
