It is widely recognized that Bollywood’s iconic duo, Hema Malini and Dharmendra, maintain separate households. After being discharged from the Breach Candy Hospital, Dharmendra currently lives with his first wife, Prakash Kaur, and their four children, including actors Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol.
On Tuesday, Hema Malini addressed rumors regarding the veteran actor’s passing. In a recent interview, the 77-year-old actress and BJP MP openly discussed her relationship with Dharmendra and their living arrangements.
“I am neither upset nor sad about it. I am content with my life. I have two children that I have raised well. Dharmendra has always been supportive of me. While no couple desires to live apart, sometimes life leads to such circumstances that one must accept it,” Hema Malini shared with Lehren.
She also reflected on her relationship with Prakash Kaur in her biography, Hema Malini: Beyond the Dream Girl, authored by Ram Kamal Mukherjee.
In the book, Hema mentioned that she and Prakash had only crossed paths briefly at social events before her marriage to Dharmendra, and their interactions ceased thereafter.
“I aimed not to cause anyone distress. I appreciate everything Dharm ji has done for me and my daughters. He has been a father figure, just as any father should be. I am genuinely satisfied with this,” she remarked.
Hema Malini, a mother to daughters Esha Deol and Ahana Deol with Dharmendra, emphasized her respect for Prakash Kaur.
“Even though I haven't openly discussed Prakash, I hold her in high esteem. My daughters also honor Dharm ji’s family. While many are curious about my personal life, I believe it remains private and is not for public consumption,” she asserted.
Hema and Dharmendra wed in 1980, while the actor was still married to Prakash Kaur, whom he wed six years before debuting in acting with the 1960 film, Dil Bhi Tera Hum Bhi Tere, at just 19.
