New Delhi:
Union Finance Minister and Minister of Corporate Affairs Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman met World Bank Group President Mr. Ajay Banga in New Delhi on Monday.
During the meeting, the Finance Minister welcomed the new Country Partnership Framework (CPF) between India and the World Bank Group. She said the CPF is closely aligned with the Government of India’s long-term national vision of Viksit Bharat.
The framework will focus on bringing private investment along with public funding, supporting job creation in both rural and urban areas, and improving projects through the World Bank Group’s international experience and technical knowledge.
Sitharaman said India is looking forward to the implementation of the CPF over the next five years, and highlighted the importance of the sustainable outcomes expected from it.
She also stressed that a strong development partnership should not be limited to financing. It should also include technical assistance, knowledge exchange, and sharing of global best practices.
Both leaders discussed ways to further strengthen India–World Bank cooperation in support of India’s long-term development priorities under the #ViksitBharat vision.
