Three motorcyclists were killed and nine others injured after a serious road accident involving 12 motorcycles and three cars on Jalan Jelapang-Ampang in Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia. The accident happened in the early hours of the morning, with police receiving information about the crash at around 3.35am. The incident involved a large group of motorcycles along with three cars, resulting in multiple casualties and injuries. Ipoh police chief Najib Hamzah said preliminary investigations indicated that all the vehicles were travelling from Meru towards Tambun when the collision occurred. The crash has been recorded as a major Malaysia road accident, with police continuing their investigation into the circumstances that led to the collision.

Two Victims Died At The Scene

Police said two male motorcyclists, aged 19 and 20, suffered serious injuries in the accident and were pronounced dead at the scene. Another 19-year-old motorcyclist was also critically injured. He was taken to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB) in Ipoh for further medical treatment. However, the third victim later died while receiving treatment at the hospital. His death brought the total number of fatalities from the accident to three. The victims were all young men, highlighting the serious impact of the Jalan Jelapang-Ampang crash that occurred during the early morning hours.

Nine Motorcyclists Injured

Nine other male motorcyclists were injured in the collision. According to police, the injured victims were between 19 and 25 years old. They were taken to Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for medical treatment. Police said the severity of their injuries had not yet been determined at the time of the statement. The accident involved a total of 15 vehicles, consisting of 12 motorcycles and three cars. While the motorcycle riders suffered casualties and injuries, the three car drivers involved in the collision were reported to be uninjured. The large number of vehicles involved has made the incident one of the significant Ipoh accident cases under investigation by local authorities.

Police Investigating The Cause

Police have launched an investigation to establish exactly how the collision occurred. Najib Hamzah said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of Malaysia's Road Transport Act 1987. The provision concerns dangerous or reckless driving resulting in death. At this stage, police have not publicly confirmed the specific circumstances that caused the vehicles to collide. Investigators are expected to examine available information and establish the sequence of events leading up to the fatal motorcycle crash. Police are also appealing to members of the public who may have witnessed the accident or possess information relevant to the investigation.

Public Asked To Help Police

Authorities have asked anyone with information about the incident to contact the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division at the Ipoh police headquarters. Witness information could assist investigators in determining what happened before and during the collision. Police are continuing to gather details as part of the investigation into the fatal accident on Jalan Jelapang-Ampang. The incident has drawn attention to road safety among motorcycle riders, particularly on roads used by groups of riders during the early morning period.
