Justin Herbert Aims for Quick Comeback Following Hand Surgery

Justin Herbert Aims for Quick Comeback Following Hand Surgery

Post by : Badri Ariffin

Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is setting his sights on an earlier-than-expected return to action after having hand surgery last week. The injury occurred when he collided with Las Vegas Raiders safety Jeremy Chinn, resulting in the need for a plate and screws to be inserted. Despite this setback, Herbert is determined to lead the team in Monday's match against the Philadelphia Eagles.

Herbert sustained the injury during the first quarter of the Chargers' 31-14 win over the Raiders. He briefly exited the game but resiliently returned to help secure the victory, underscoring his commitment to the team. Following the operation, he hasn’t been able to practice throwing, leaving backup Trey Lance to lead during practice.

Remaining optimistic, Herbert stated, “The plan is to prepare as if I’m going to play and see how the next couple of days goes. I’ll do everything I can to be out there for the team.” This determination is critical as the Chargers are in an 8-4 position and vying for a strong playoff run after winning four of their last five games.

This season, Herbert has achieved a 66.9% completion rate, passing for 2,842 yards with 21 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. His ability to play could significantly impact the Chargers' offensive strategy and playoff ambitions, drawing the attention of both fans and sports analysts.

Coach Jim Harbaugh has shared a cautiously encouraging stance on Herbert’s potential return, expressing that there is hope for his leadership against a formidable Eagles team. As the team prepares for this crucial encounter, all eyes will be on Herbert’s recovery in the upcoming days.
