On Tuesday, a 5.3 magnitude earthquake was recorded near Mindanao’s coast in the Philippines. The quake’s epicenter was established at a depth of 10 kilometers, situated at 6.31°N latitude and 126.29°E longitude. This region experiences frequent seismic activity as it lies along the Pacific Ring of Fire.
This seismic event comes shortly after a significant 7.4-magnitude earthquake rattled southern Philippines just a month ago, which triggered tsunami alerts and evacuations in coastal areas as a precautionary measure.
Officials from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) are actively monitoring the situation to evaluate any potential damage or aftershocks. Currently, no casualties or major damages have been reported in connection with this earthquake.
Residents are advised to remain vigilant and adhere to safety protocols, as the Philippines is susceptible to frequent earthquakes due to its geographical circumstances. Authorities are on standby to respond to any emergencies resulting from ongoing seismic activity.
