Dutch chipmaker Nexperia, a key supplier of essential semiconductors for the automotive and electronics industries, has urged its Chinese units to resume normal production after disruptions in its global supply chain. The company’s Dutch unit sent an open letter on Thursday emphasizing the urgent need to restore operations and maintain steady supplies of the simple yet critical chips used in cars and various electronic devices.
The appeal comes after the Dutch government took over Nexperia in September, causing a significant split in the company’s supply chain. According to the Dutch unit, repeated efforts to communicate with its Chinese branches have failed, and production has yet to return to normal levels.
Nexperia produces billions of chips that are widely used in the automotive sector, electronics, and other essential industries. Supply disruptions have already caused slowdowns and temporary halts in automotive production worldwide, highlighting the importance of timely chip delivery.
With demand for semiconductors continuing to rise globally, Nexperia’s efforts to reconnect its international operations reflect the critical role of smooth production and logistics in preventing shortages. The company remains focused on stabilizing its supply chain and ensuring that its Chinese units can resume full-scale manufacturing to support global automotive and electronics production.
This development underscores the broader challenges facing the semiconductor industry, where geopolitical changes and government interventions can have immediate impacts on production, supply continuity, and global markets.
