The UAE's Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure recently attended the World Hydrogen Summit & Exhibition in Rotterdam, an influential global forum where decision-makers, specialists, and industry leaders congregate to explore the future of hydrogen and sustainable energy frameworks.
During the event, the UAE also engaged in the International Hydrogen Trade Forum, which centered on international strategies to enhance hydrogen commerce and refine the integration of global supply chains.
According to the ministry, the UAE's involvement showcases its dedication to reinforcing its status as a worldwide center for low-emission hydrogen, in line with the National Hydrogen Strategy.
This strategy focuses on creating an all-encompassing hydrogen ecosystem encompassing production, transportation, storage, and uses. It is also designed to support the UAE’s long-term ambitions of achieving climate neutrality and ensuring energy security.
The ministry pointed out the critical role of international collaboration among governments, the private sector, financial entities, and technology developers. This cooperation is vital for constructing a sustainable global hydrogen economy and aiding the shift towards cleaner, more resilient energy systems.
Moreover, the UAE highlighted the importance of harmonizing international, regional, and local hydrogen standards, which are essential for promoting market expansion and accelerating cross-border hydrogen trade, particularly given the complexity of global supply chains.
Additionally, the UAE presented its initiatives aimed at supporting decarbonization across vital sectors. This includes creating guiding policies for sustainable aviation fuel, fostering innovation, and building international partnerships that facilitate the transition to a low-emission economy.
The ministry emphasized that the UAE continues to promote an energy transition model rooted in diversification, innovation, and strategic partnerships. This strategy aims to enhance the UAE’s global competitiveness in future energy sectors while advancing sustainable development objectives and the green economy.
