A significant advancement in Pakistan’s agricultural logistics has been announced with the collaboration between AD Ports Group and the Karachi Gateway Terminal Multipurpose Limited (KGTML), in partnership with Louis Dreyfus Company Pakistan (LDC). These two entities will work together to construct and manage a state-of-the-art clean bulk handling and storage terminal at Karachi Port, aimed at reinforcing the nation’s food supply chain while improving maritime operational efficiency.
As part of this agreement, KGTML will invest in establishing a high-efficiency, food-grade bulk terminal featuring a specialized conveyor system and all necessary utilities. The facility will prioritize not only the efficient handling but also the secure storage of dry agricultural goods, adhering to global safety standards. LDC, recognized as a leading agricultural merchant globally, has pledged to funnel considerable cargo volumes through this new terminal to support its business expansion in Pakistan.
This initiative follows an earlier commitment of USD 75 million made by AD Ports Group during the initial phase of the KGTML project. The collaboration is also part of ADQ's broader strategic goal—AD Ports Group’s and LDC’s parent company—to bolster critical infrastructure and enhance regional supply chains.
The formalization of this agreement took place in Abu Dhabi, attended by senior executives from both organizations, marking the development as vital for Pakistan’s port ecosystem and highlighting the strengthening economic relations between the UAE and Pakistan.
Once operational, this facility is projected to decrease cargo handling times, improve storage efficiency, and facilitate reliable movement of agricultural products in and out of the nation. By employing advanced systems and adhering to food-grade safety protocols, the terminal aims to enhance Pakistan’s resilience against supply chain disruptions while boosting the overall efficacy of its agricultural logistics network.
In addition to this development, AD Ports Group is advancing its management of the Karachi Gateway Terminal Limited (KGTL) container terminal, further solidifying Pakistan’s role as an essential maritime passageway to Central Asia and a critical junction in the growing Middle Corridor trade route linking China and Europe.
The establishment of this clean bulk facility represents a crucial achievement for both nations, fostering trade connectivity and reinforcing Pakistan’s prominence in regional agricultural commerce.
