Beijing, October 4, 2025 – American tennis star Amanda Anisimova produced a sensational performance to reach the China Open 2025 final after defeating defending champion Coco Gauff in straight sets. The world number four needed just 58 minutes to secure a 6-1, 6-2 victory in the semi-final, making it her second WTA 1000 final of the year.
Anisimova, seeded third in Beijing, showed her dominance right from the start. With her powerful baseline game and precise groundstrokes, she stormed to a 5-0 lead in the opening set before Gauff managed to hold serve to make it 5-1. However, Anisimova quickly wrapped up the set 6-1 with complete control. The second set followed the same pattern as Anisimova once again went 5-0 up. Gauff fought back to claim two games, but the American finished strongly to close the match 6-2 and move into the championship round.

This victory highlights what has already been a remarkable season for Anisimova. Earlier this year, she reached the Wimbledon final and also finished as runner-up at the US Open, proving her consistency at the biggest stages. With her win over Gauff in Beijing, she now leads their head-to-head rivalry 2-1. Speaking after her victory, Anisimova said she was thrilled to be in her first China Open final. She explained that she had to play her best tennis against Coco and credited the Beijing crowd for their support, saying their energy motivated her throughout the tournament.
Anisimova will now face either American fifth seed Jessica Pegula or Czech rising star Linda Noskova in the final, depending on the outcome of the second semi-final. With her strong form and growing confidence, she will aim to lift her first China Open title and add another major milestone to an already impressive 2025 season.
