Sriram Raghavan’s anticipated war film Ikkis, starring Agastya Nanda, will now debut on January 1, 2026, having shifted from its original release date of December 25. Amitabh Bachchan took to X to share that the postponement was due to recommendations from “some astrologers” who deemed the new date to be more auspicious, indicating the choice was influenced by jyotish vidya rather than market rivalry.
Produced by Maddock Films, a fresh poster featuring Agastya Nanda was unveiled. Ikkis revolves around themes of bravery and sacrifice, depicting the life of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, India’s youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra. The film also features Dharmendra and Jaideep Ahlawat in significant roles.
This film represents Agastya Nanda’s first theatrical debut, following his debut appearance in The Archies (2023) on Netflix. It is particularly noteworthy as it is expected to be Dharmendra’s final film, marking a significant moment for the iconic actor.
The much-anticipated trailer for Ikkis is expected to drop in theatres shortly, teasing audiences with a preview of its gripping narrative and performances. The filmmakers are optimistic that the New Year launch will pave the way for a successful opening.
In the meantime, Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar continues to perform strongly at the box office, reportedly grossing ₹460 crore net in India. By moving Ikkis to January, it will avoid competition and open the year with a promising trajectory.
War film enthusiasts and fans of Agastya Nanda are eagerly anticipating Ikkis, as it aims to combine historical context, valor, and cinematic artistry, setting a notable tone for 2026.
