Arjun Rampal Dodges Query on Graphic Moment in Dhurandhar Trailer

Arjun Rampal Dodges Query on Graphic Moment in Dhurandhar Trailer

Post by : Meena Ariff

In the upcoming spy thriller Dhurandhar, actor Arjun Rampal steps back into a formidable and dark role as a ruthless ISI official. The trailer, released this Tuesday, immediately sparked discussion due to its shocking opening segment, showcasing a notably graphic torture scene enacted by Arjun's character. This unsettling moment has incited a range of reactions from viewers, from shock to admiration.

The trailer begins with Arjun brutally tormenting a captive, using various hooks to cause considerable anguish. Many have found the visuals disturbing, with some critics labeling the violence as extreme. Conversely, others commend director Aditya Dhar for his bold choice to depict an unflinching realism that is seldom seen in mainstream Indian cinema.

During the Mumbai trailer launch, when asked how he felt about the scene during its initial narration, Arjun chose to remain vague, stating that he didn’t find the behind-the-scenes process interesting and preferred highlighting the film’s significance. He conveyed his admiration for Aditya Dhar, labeling the day special due to the director’s commitment to producing a distinctive film.

At the launch, Arjun inadvertently revealed the name of Ranveer Singh's character. Although the trailer keeps the protagonist's identity under wraps, Arjun mentioned that during the two-year filming process, he “never crossed paths with Ranveer, only Hamza,” thus unintentionally disclosing the character’s name.

Dhurandhar is inspired by the Lyari Gang Wars in Pakistan along with secret operations linked to Indian intelligence. The film boasts a strong cast, including Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi. Many roles are based on real individuals.
The film is set to hit theaters on December 5.
