Bengaluru Actor-Director Arrested for Sexual Harassment Allegations

Bengaluru Actor-Director Arrested for Sexual Harassment Allegations

Post by : Rameen Ariff

Bengaluru police have arrested actor, director, and producer B I Hemant Kumar following a complaint by a television actress alleging sexual harassment, cheating, and criminal intimidation.

According to the complaint, Hemant approached the actress in 2022, offering her the lead role in a film titled 3. An agreement was signed promising Rs 2 lakh, of which Rs 60,000 was paid as advance. However, the complainant alleged that Hemant delayed the shoot and began harassing her, pressuring her to wear revealing clothes and perform obscene scenes. She also claimed that he threatened her when she refused to comply.

Even after completing her portions with mediation through the Film Chamber, Hemant allegedly continued to intimidate her. The complaint further states that during a 2023 promotional event in Mumbai, Hemant spiked her drink, filmed her in an inebriated state, and used the video to blackmail her. When she resisted, he reportedly sent goons to follow her and issued threats to her and her mother.

Hemant is also accused of posting edited, uncensored clips of the film on social media without Censor Board approval, sharing her personal information, and defaming her publicly. The actress later secured an interim injunction from Bengaluru City Civil Court to stop Hemant from uploading videos. Despite this, she claims he continued posting defamatory content online.

The Bengaluru police have taken Hemant into custody as the investigation continues.
