New Delhi has tightened security to its highest level ahead of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s arrival on Thursday evening for his two-day visit to India. The national capital has been placed under a multi-layered security cover, with several specialised units working together to ensure round-the-clock protection throughout the Russian leader’s stay.
Officials have not disclosed the exact location where Putin will be staying due to strict security protocols. Senior police officers said every movement of the Russian President, from landing to departure, will be tracked closely by multiple agencies operating in coordination. Continuous communication is underway, and all teams have been instructed to maintain maximum alertness.
More than 5,000 police personnel have been deployed across Delhi to secure key routes, manage traffic, and monitor sensitive areas linked to Putin’s itinerary. Senior Delhi Police officers are directly overseeing route security, area sanitisation, and movement planning to avoid any lapses. Anti-drone technology and high-security barriers are also being installed along the designated pathways.
Officials said all routes expected to be used for VVIP movement have been secured in advance. Traffic advisories will be issued at intervals to minimise inconvenience to the public. The security plan also includes SWAT teams, anti-terror units, snipers, and quick-reaction teams positioned at strategic locations.
Delhi Police, central intelligence agencies, and Putin’s personal security detail have come together to form a powerful, layered security grid. High-definition CCTV cameras, technical surveillance units, and real-time monitoring systems are active across multiple zones to track any suspicious activity.
Authorities have indicated that some areas may face temporary traffic restrictions and restricted pedestrian movement during the visit. However, officials assured that all alerts will be issued beforehand to avoid major disruptions in the city.
Putin’s visit to India is one of the most closely monitored diplomatic events of the year, and the enhanced security arrangements highlight the significance of the India-Russia meeting.
