Delhi Police has increased security across the city to make sure Eid ul-Azha is celebrated peacefully and safely on Saturday.
To keep everything in order during the festival, police teams have been placed in areas that need more attention. The Rapid Action Force (RAF), paramilitary forces, and local police officers are all working together.
Police have set up several check posts all around Delhi. They are also using electronic cameras and other tools to watch for any suspicious activity.
A senior police officer said, “We are keeping a close eye on the city. We are also watching social media to stop any fake news or messages that can cause trouble in communities. Anyone who breaks the rules will be punished as per the law.”
The officer also said that doing animal sacrifices in open public places, offering prayers in public without permission, and sacrificing animals that are not allowed are all banned during the festival.
As part of the safety plan, police are walking around the streets (called foot patrolling), using drones to watch over busy or sensitive areas, and increasing night-time checking.
Traffic police are also working hard to make sure traffic flows smoothly and no one breaks traffic rules during the celebrations.
To build good relationships and understanding among all communities, the police have held special meetings called Aman Committee meetings. These meetings were held with local religious leaders and people from the community in different parts of Delhi.
In East Delhi, the officer in charge of Pandav Nagar Police Station visited the Kotla Idgah area and spoke to local Imams to plan for crowd control and safety.
Abhishek Dhania, Deputy Commissioner of Police (East), said that such meetings are taking place in many areas of the city to make sure all preparations are in place.
Another senior officer said, “Delhi Police and local community leaders are working together to make sure Eid is celebrated in a safe, peaceful, and happy way.”
