DP World is enhancing global trade by merging sea, rail, and road transport systems to boost supply chain efficiency and resilience.
In its latest whitepaper, titled “A $60.7 Billion Opportunity: Multimodal Transport and the Future of Global Trade,” the firm underscores how interconnected transport networks are transforming global cargo logistics.
The report anticipates that the worldwide multimodal transport sector will reach approximately $160 billion by 2032, propelled by increasing demand for faster, more reliable, and adaptable supply chains.
Amidst challenges like geopolitical tensions, port congestion, and climate change impacts, businesses are turning to integrated transport solutions that encompass various shipping modes.
According to DP World, coastal and feeder shipping, in conjunction with effective rail and road connectivity, are critical for transporting goods efficiently across regions and inland markets. This creates seamless, end-to-end logistics within major trade routes.
The company operates an extensive global network, connecting over 200 ports worldwide, supporting more than 23,500 annual sailings through its marine services, and managing approximately 6 million TEU via its shipping solutions.
These operations are increasingly integrated with inland logistics networks, facilitating smooth transitions of cargo from ports to final destinations using rail and road systems.
DP World asserts that global supply networks are evolving from traditional point-to-point models to more interconnected, corridor-based frameworks, driven by the urgent need for speed, transparency, and reliability in contemporary trade.
The company is enhancing its integrated logistics strategy by improving coastal connections, bolstering inland transport links, and fostering better coordination throughout the entire cargo journey.
Ganesh Raj, Global COO of Marine Services at DP World, commented that in today’s disrupted trade landscape, connecting ports with rail and road networks is vital for facilitating smooth and efficient cargo transport.
He noted that DP World remains committed to supporting customers by creating flexible and interconnected transport frameworks that enhance reliability across global supply chains.
