The Dubai Chamber of Commerce has successfully wrapped up its latest trade mission, focusing on enhancing business connections with Cambodia. This initiative included organizing 189 business-to-business meetings in Phnom Penh, providing businesses from both Dubai and Cambodia with opportunities to explore collaborative ventures across various sectors. These interactions facilitated mutual understanding and pinpointed growth areas for trade and investment.
A highlight of the mission was the “Doing Business with Cambodia” forum, co-hosted by the Dubai Chamber, the UAE Embassy in Thailand, Cambodia’s Ministry of Commerce, the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, and the Council for the Development of Cambodia. This pivotal event brought together key stakeholders from both countries.
Notable speakers at the forum included Tekreth Kamrang, Secretary of State at Cambodia’s Ministry of Commerce, and Neak Oknha Kith Meng, President of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce. Salem AlShamsi, Executive Vice President of International Relations at Dubai Chambers, provided remarks alongside Suon Sophal from the Cambodia Investment Board, who shared valuable insights on the country’s economic development strategies.
Attendance exceeded 357 business leaders, representatives, and officials, showcasing a robust interest in uncovering opportunities in both Dubai and Cambodia. Many attendees were eager to learn how Dubai enterprises can form partnerships in Cambodia and how Cambodian businesses can access Dubai’s regional markets through its advanced facilities.
During the forum, the Dubai Chamber of Commerce presented a comprehensive overview of Dubai’s business landscape, emphasizing its status as a global trade and investment hub. The presentation underlined key advantages, such as a strong logistics network, supportive business regulations, and enhanced access to markets in neighboring regions. These factors make Dubai a strategic entry point for Cambodian firms seeking international expansion.
The Council for the Development of Cambodia provided insights into the country’s thriving economy. Their presentation highlighted Cambodia’s regulatory framework, development strategies, and sectors poised for foreign investment, urging Dubai businesses to consider long-term opportunities in the region. With infrastructure improvements and industrial growth, Cambodia serves as a promising avenue for new business endeavors.
The Dubai Chamber indicated numerous high-potential sectors for future collaboration between Dubai and Cambodia, including aluminium, iron and steel, beverages, furniture, mattresses, and aircraft components.
Dubai-based firms were also encouraged to investigate investment avenues in Cambodia’s tourism, transportation, textiles, consumer products, warehousing, construction, and infrastructure sectors.
Salem AlShamsi reaffirmed the commitment of the chamber to facilitate global growth for Dubai companies by focusing on priority markets. He praised missions like this for reinforcing Dubai’s status as a key global business hub and establishing fruitful investment connections that benefit both nations. He further stressed that Dubai aims to increase not just trade volume but also to foster sustainable and enduring business partnerships.
