In the 93rd virtual meeting chaired by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, significant discussions were held regarding the future of energy in Dubai. Vice Chairman Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, alongside key industry officials from several government and energy sectors, participated in the meeting.
Central to the discussions was the strategy aimed at expanding retail fuel stations across Dubai, enhancing service quality and facilitating traffic at fueling points.
Strategic initiatives aimed at improving operational safety and efficiency within fuel distribution were also analyzed. Officials pointed out the ongoing enhancements made by Emirates National Oil Company in streamlining fueling operations and boosting vehicle movement at service stations.
A major highlight of the meeting was the embrace of artificial intelligence by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA). Noteworthy developments include the unveiling of the world's first AI-operated gas turbine controller at the Jebel Ali Power Generation and Water Desalination Complex.
DEWA plans to introduce its “Virtual Engineer” in June 2026. This innovative tool is anticipated to significantly bolster system performance and operational capability.
Officials acknowledged that AI applications are already yielding productivity improvements at the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, which currently generates 3,860 megawatts, contributing to approximately 21.5% of Dubai's energy requirements.
By 2030, Dubai aims to achieve a clean energy capacity exceeding 36%, aligning with a long-term vision to realize 100% clean energy by 2050.
The council reaffirmed its commitment to integrating cutting-edge technologies and expanding necessary infrastructure to bolster energy efficiency and sustainable development in the emirate.
