Dubai Marine Sports Club Launches Registration for Rowing Competition

Dubai Marine Sports Club Launches Registration for Rowing Competition

Post by : Maya Rahman

The Dubai International Marine Sports Club has officially opened registration for the second round of the Dubai Local Rowing Boats Race, set to take place on Saturday at the Dubai Healthcare City Promenade, Phase Two, located in Al Jaddaf. This race is part of the club's continuous efforts to promote traditional maritime sports and engage the community more broadly.

The organizing committee has confirmed that the upcoming event will showcase two heats for the local rowing boats category, along with two heats for the open category, which welcomes teams from both governmental and private sectors. Depending on registration numbers, there may be an adjustment in the number of heats. The first round saw robust participation, with 42 boats, including 26 in the local category, showcasing a growing enthusiasm for rowing.

To promote a fair competitive spirit and efficient organization, several new regulations will be enforced in this second round. Each participating boat must now display load numbers clearly on the rear. Furthermore, technical inspections will ensure that all vessels meet safety and performance standards prior to the race. A draw will determine starting positions, emphasizing transparency and equity for competitors.

Mohammed Al Merri, Director of the Sports Affairs Department at the club, remarked that this round marks a significant development, especially in light of the growing number of contestants since the inaugural race. He highlighted that these initiatives exemplify Dubai's dedication to advancing marine sports while upholding organizational excellence and fostering a competitive yet equitable environment for all rowing teams.
