The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has revamped its curriculum for light vehicle driver training, integrating the latest advancements in safety technology, particularly focusing on Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
This updated curriculum instructs learners on essential smart safety features, including forward collision warnings, blind spot monitoring, lane departure alerts, parking assist systems, adaptive cruise control, and anti-lock braking systems. These technologies are prevalent in modern vehicles and play a crucial role in promoting safer driving practices.
Sultan Al Akraf, Director of Drivers Licensing at RTA, emphasized that these revisions aim to enhance road safety, encourage responsible driving habits, and decrease traffic incidents by aligning training with global standards.
Developed in collaboration with driving schools, this new curriculum is integrated into both theoretical and practical sessions, as well as the official handbook for learners.
Al Akraf mentioned that over 250,000 trainees have already taken advantage of this enhanced programme. Additionally, regular workshops are being conducted for driving schools throughout Dubai to ensure the effective and updated teaching of advanced vehicle technologies.
This initiative aligns with RTA's long-term vision of fostering safer roads by equipping new drivers with the knowledge to understand and utilize advanced safety systems effectively.
