Strengthening Trade Ties: Dubai and Serbia's Roundtable Discussion

Strengthening Trade Ties: Dubai and Serbia's Roundtable Discussion

Post by : Badri Ariffin

In a bid to fortify their economic ties, Dubai and Serbia convened for a high-profile roundtable at the Dubai Chambers headquarters, bringing together key government representatives and business leaders to explore innovative pathways for trade and investment.

Facilitated by Dubai Chambers in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia, the meeting centered on enhancing cooperation in sectors ripe for development. Key topics included opportunities in construction, energy, IT, agri-food, healthcare, trade, fintech, industrial automation, and transportation—demonstrating a comprehensive interest in establishing new commercial relations.

The dialogue also focused on accelerating bilateral trade, reflecting a notable surge in business engagements. This year, Dubai has become increasingly appealing to Serbian entrepreneurs, with 83 new Serbian companies registering with the Dubai Chamber of Commerce within the first three quarters. This influx has raised the total number of operational Serbian businesses in Dubai to 293 as of September.

Trade dynamics have mirrored this growth. In 2024, the bilateral non-oil trade between Dubai and Serbia reached approximately AED 336 million, representing a significant 44% increase over the previous year, indicative of heightened demand, improved market connectivity, and growing investor confidence.

As both parties delve into innovative partnership frameworks and sector-focused collaborations, the outcomes of this roundtable are expected to bolster stronger commercial exchanges and pave the way for enduring economic opportunities that will benefit enterprises in both nations.
