The romantic drama Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat, featuring Harshvardhan Rane and Sonam Bajwa, is set to launch on Netflix starting December 16, 2025. Premiering theatrically on October 21 during the Diwali celebrations, the film swiftly captured the audience’s interest earning the title of the 12th highest-grossing Hindi film this year, despite a mix of critical reviews. Its upcoming OTT release promises to widen its reach, especially for those interested in narratives about intricate relationships and all-consuming love.
Directed by Milap Zaveri and co-written with Mushtaq Shiekh, the film dives into the darker dimensions of affection, illustrating how desire and obsession can blur the boundaries of passion and control. The narrative examines issues of possessiveness, emotional trauma, heartbreak, and the perilous ramifications of unchecked devotion. Instead of romanticizing love, the film portrays it as a potentially destructive force, fueled by ego and entitlement.
The story centers on Vikramaditya Bhonsle, played by Harshvardhan Rane, a powerful politician whose infatuation with actress Adaa Randhawa, played by Sonam Bajwa, turns deeply unsettling after she spurns his advances. What starts as fervent courtship devolves into a troubling obsession, intensified by privilege, wounded pride, and a desperate craving for control. As Vikramaditya's obsession escalates, Adaa is forced to resort to extreme actions for her own safety. Set against a backdrop of political clout and emotional manipulation, the film delivers a gritty portrayal of toxic love, depicting how obsession can morph into a weapon rather than a symbol of care.
Produced by Anshul Rajendra Garg and Dinesh Jain under the Desi Movies Factory label, the film boasts cinematography by Nigam Bomzan and a score by John Stewart Eduri, along with contributions from Ariyan Mehedi. The casting ensemble includes Rajesh Khera, Sachin Khedekar, Shaad Randhawa, and Ananth Narayan Mahadevan, who collectively heighten the film’s emotional tension and stakes.
With its Netflix premiere on the horizon, Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat is poised to ignite discussions on toxic masculinity, celebrity harassment, and the perilous idealization of obsession, marking it as one of the most anticipated releases this season.
