Dubai, November 17, 2025 — Emirates, recognized as the world's largest international airline, made headlines with a significant order of 65 Boeing 777-9 jets equipped with GE9X engines, valued at $38 billion based on list prices. This announcement, made on the first day of the Dubai Airshow 2025, consolidates Emirates' leadership in operating the Boeing 777 series while showcasing their dedication to advancements in global aerospace production.
This new addition brings Emirates' total Boeing widebody orders to an impressive 315 aircraft, consisting of 270 Boeing 777Xs, 10 freighters, and 35 Boeing 787s. Additionally, the airline’s order for GE9X engines has now reached 540 units, which includes 130 recently confirmed engines. Such a substantial investment is anticipated to bolster high-value aerospace manufacturing jobs in the United States throughout the lifespan of these orders.
HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group, highlighted the strategic role of this acquisition: “Our aircraft orderbook has been meticulously crafted to align with Emirates’ long-term growth strategy, which is central to Dubai’s vision of development. Maintaining a modern fleet is crucial to our approach, and we look forward to integrating our first 777-9s beginning in Q2 2027, featuring cutting-edge onboard technologies.”
Furthermore, this agreement underpins Boeing’s feasibility study for the 777-10, a larger model within the 777X range. Emirates has secured options to adapt part of its 777-9 purchase to the 777-10 or the 777-8, reflecting confidence in the evolution of larger, more efficient aircraft to tackle rising global air traffic and airport limitations.
Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, praised the strengthened collaboration: “It is a profound honor that Emirates has opted for the Boeing 777X as its future aircraft of choice. For 40 years, we have aided Emirates in expanding their fleet and global reach. Today’s order fortifies our partnership and ensures that Emirates will continue utilizing Boeing aircraft for many years ahead.”
Russell Stokes, President & CEO of Commercial Engines & Services for GE Aerospace, echoed these sentiments: “We’re thrilled to deepen our collaboration with Emirates. As the preeminent customer for GE90 and GP7200 engines, this additional GE9X order signifies Emirates' trust in our technology, and we stand ready to support their ongoing expansion.”
Throughout its four-decade journey, Emirates has operated every variant of the Boeing 777 family and currently boasts the largest 777 fleet worldwide, inclusive of 119 Boeing 777-300ERs, 10 Boeing 777-200LRs, and 11 freighters, connecting Dubai to over 140 global destinations.
With this latest order, Boeing aircraft deliveries to Emirates are set to extend until 2038, providing sustained support to the US aerospace sector while ensuring Emirates maintains a state-of-the-art, fuel-efficient fleet.
This agreement underscores Emirates' vital role in shaping global aviation dynamics, its commitment to the economic upliftment of Dubai, and its key position in nurturing robust US-UAE relations in aerospace. As Emirates enhances its 777X fleet, the airline continues to assert its leadership role in global aviation, pioneering advancements in travel efficiency, passenger comfort, and sustainable practices.
