UAE Stands Firm on Peace at IPU Assembly

UAE Stands Firm on Peace at IPU Assembly

Post by : Badri Ariffin

Sara Mohamed Falaknaz represented the UAE Parliamentary Division at the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Istanbul.

Focused on recent developments in the region, the Committee on Middle East Questions discussed escalating tensions and their implications for security and stability. Important topics included ongoing humanitarian crises, political issues, and global initiatives to avert further escalation.

In her speech, Falaknaz condemned attacks against the UAE, Gulf states, and Jordan, insisting that such actions cannot be warranted under any circumstances. She reiterated the UAE’s unwavering stance that its territory, airspace, and waters will not facilitate hostile actions against any nation.

With increasing concerns in mind, she pointed out that the UAE has endured attacks reportedly linked to Iran, aimed at civilian zones and crucial infrastructures like airports and essential services. She qualified these acts as violations of international law and the principles of peaceful coexistence.

Falaknaz asserted that assaults on civilians and infrastructure signify a perilous escalation that jeopardizes regional security. She reaffirmed the UAE’s pledge to back international and regional initiatives focused on sustaining peace and stability.

Stressing the importance of political dialogue and diplomatic methods, she advocated for peaceful resolutions. She also noted the role of parliamentary institutions in fostering peace, cooperation, and positive dialogue.

In her closing remarks, Falaknaz urged the international community to increase efforts aimed at protecting civilians and ensuring vital trade routes and supply chains, which are crucial for both regional and global stability.
