The Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA) has officially announced the unopposed re-election of Mohammed Ben Sulayem as President for another four years. This decision came after the General Assembly convened in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, where his Presidential List received unanimous support, allowing him to sustain his leadership of the global motorsport and mobility body. His re-election follows a successful term dedicated to stability and renewal, beginning in 2021.
Throughout his first term, Ben Sulayem spearheaded pivotal reforms focused on governance improvements, robust internal systems, and reviving the FIA's financial standing. Thanks to his initiative, the federation rebounded from a €-24 million deficit in 2021 to a promising operating profit of €4.7 million in 2024, marking the best financial results in nearly ten years. Projections suggest a continued positive trend, with an estimated operating profit of €4.4 million anticipated for 2025.
This enhanced financial status has empowered the FIA to initiate increased long-term investments in Member Clubs and global development initiatives. During the last four years, the organization has implemented improved audit mechanisms, stricter budget management, and modernized governance frameworks. Such measures have elevated transparency, accountability, and professionalism within the federation, promoting more effective operations.
Beyond financial and administrative transformations, the FIA has amplified its international presence in both motorsport and mobility sectors. The organization has expanded regional initiatives, enhanced support for grassroots motorsport, and engaged closely with global partners on safety, sustainable mobility, and future transport concepts. Additionally, a new commercial strategy was established to foster long-term growth and worldwide engagement.
Following his re-election, Ben Sulayem expressed gratitude to FIA members for their trust and active participation in the electoral process. He reaffirmed his commitment to serving the FIA, its clubs, and its international community, vowing to focus on progress, unity, and advancement across all facets. The election was characterized by a transparent and democratic approach, reflecting the strong collective voice of the federation's global members.
