A Michigan judge has decided that Ryan Kesler, a former NHL star, will go to trial regarding allegations of criminal sexual conduct. The preliminary hearing revealed sufficient evidence for the prosecution to establish probable cause.
Kesler, aged 41, is facing two misdemeanor charges of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct. He has entered a not guilty plea. The incidents in question are said to have occurred on January 1 in Orchard Lake, Michigan.
Originally from Livonia, Michigan, Kesler played for the Vancouver Canucks from 2003 until 2014 before moving to the Anaheim Ducks, where he remained until his retirement in 2019. He represented the USA in the 2010 and 2014 Winter Olympics, earned the Frank J. Selke Trophy in 2011 as the NHL's best defensive forward, and played a significant role in leading Vancouver to the Stanley Cup Final that year.
