Fushan Technology Aims for Major Expansion in Vietnam

Fushan Technology Aims for Major Expansion in Vietnam

Post by : Badri Ariffin

Fushan Technology, the Vietnam branch of the Taiwanese tech giant Foxconn, is seeking approval for an extensive production increase as it aims to enhance its global electronics footprint. Recent documents submitted to Bac Ninh province's environmental authorities indicate significant upgrades are already underway at its northern Vietnam facility.

This expansion will enable the factory to manufacture Xbox gaming devices along with other electronic components, improving Foxconn’s supply capabilities for major tech brands worldwide. In addition to the new product offerings, the company intends to elevate its phone production output by 30 million units, raising its annual capacity to around 140 million units.

The plan also includes the introduction of manufacturing for smart ring charging devices—wearables that blend smartwatch functionalities with fitness tracking. Work on these upgrades is currently in progress, with full-scale operations expected to commence by April next year.

Fushan Technology’s facility has a rich industrial history, previously serving as a production hub for Nokia and Microsoft mobile devices. The plant is also equipped to produce up to 100,000 drones annually, showcasing its versatility in high-demand tech sectors.

As a major supplier for Apple, Microsoft, and various global electronics players, Foxconn has invested over $3.2 billion in Vietnam by 2024. The company has been consistently growing throughout the country since its entry in the 2000s, with a significant concentration of operations in Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces.
