Indian women's cricket captain Harmanpreet Kaur has chosen to memorialise India's landmark World Cup victory with a fresh tattoo. Following the team's 52-run win over South Africa, she posted images of the ink and said the triumph would remain "in her skin and in her heart."
The design, located on her upper left arm, depicts the World Cup trophy alongside "2025" and the number "52." That figure represents the margin of victory over South Africa and resonates with fans as a poignant echo of the long gap since the men's 1983 title — a reminder of patience, perseverance and hard-won success.
On November 5, Harmanpreet shared a message with the photos: "Forever etched in my skin and my heart. I waited for this day since the beginning. Now, every morning when I see it, I will feel grateful." Her words drew warm responses from followers who praised her leadership and resolve.
The tattoo was executed at Aliens Tattoo Studio. Founder Sunny Bhanushali described the commission as an honour, saying the artwork tells a story of courage, hope and collective effort. He added that the final motif was created after conversations with Harmanpreet and some teammates to ensure each element held personal significance.
The studio shared behind-the-scenes images showing Harmanpreet relaxed and smiling during the session, scenes that prompted many supporters to comment on her visible pride and contentment.
For Harmanpreet, the tattoo goes beyond a single match. It symbolises years of dedication, setbacks and resilience. The women's squad faced recurring doubts and comparisons on their path to the title; this victory, and the captain's new ink, offer encouragement to aspiring young cricketers across India.
Observers have noted the historical reverberation of the win, linking it to Kapil Dev's 1983 moment that helped transform Indian cricket. Similarly, this triumph is already being seen as an inspiration for a new generation of players.
As a personal keepsake and public emblem, Harmanpreet's tattoo stands as a quiet affirmation that long-held dreams can be realised — a message of hope for millions.
The country marked the achievement with joyful gatherings, flag-waving and lively social media tributes. For many, the day the women in blue lifted the World Cup will remain unforgettable.
Harmanpreet Kaur's tattoo will keep the memory of that decisive 52-run victory alive — a permanent reminder of the day India reclaimed World Cup glory.
