Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood is set on continuing his international cricket career across all formats, despite being absent for the entire Ashes series due to an injury. At the age of 34, he is one of six Australian players who may be approaching the twilight of their Test careers.
Hazlewood faced a hamstring injury right before the series, and later an Achilles issue hindered his training efforts. Nonetheless, he remains dedicated to representing Australia in both white ball and red ball formats.
“Absolutely,” he affirmed to the Daily Telegraph in Sydney. “I still feel fit. There might be minor injuries, but I'm focused on playing in all formats to the best of my ability. The diversity keeps it invigorating.”
After missing the last three Tests of the Ashes, he is now concentrating on regaining full match fitness ahead of Australia’s T20 World Cup scheduled in India and Sri Lanka next year. “Getting injured mid-series makes it challenging to catch up. I could have played in one or two Tests, but that wouldn’t have been wise. Every day off means extra effort to return to full strength,” he explained.
Hazlewood stressed the importance of a gradual return to avoid re-injury and is putting in significant effort to be prepared for future challenges. Once he regains his fitness and playing form, fans can expect to see him bowling at his peak, reaffirming his commitment to the Australian team across all formats.
