If you're traveling to Malaysia today, get ready for long delays. People crossing the border are stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic, and waiting times may go over three hours.
This morning around 8:15 AM, Singapore's checkpoint officers shared that there is very heavy departure traffic. The main reason is a traffic jam from the Malaysia side, which is now affecting roads in Singapore too.
The traffic has stretched far past Exit 10A on the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE), causing trouble for many drivers. It's not just a small slowdown—cars are moving slowly, and frustration is building up.
The June school holidays are ending soon on June 29, so many families are traveling. That’s why both Woodlands and Tuas checkpoints are seeing extra-heavy traffic, especially during weekends. This kind of rush was expected, but the crowd was bigger than usual.
Officers reminded all drivers to follow traffic rules. If someone is caught trying to jump the queue, they will be told to turn around and go to the back of the line. And if they do it again, they might be blacklisted—which means they could face serious consequences or be stopped from crossing in the future.
Authorities are advising all travelers to:
Crossing the border can take time during holidays, but a little planning and patience can make your trip smoother.
Try traveling during off-peak hours, carry enough water and snacks, and keep your kids entertained in the car to avoid stress.
So if you're heading into Malaysia soon, make sure you’re prepared!
