India and Afghanistan are on the verge of launching air cargo services, marking a pivotal effort to strengthen their trade relationship. This announcement was made on Friday during Afghanistan's Trade Minister Nooruddin Azizi's visit to New Delhi.
The air cargo service aims to facilitate Afghanistan's access to vital goods such as grains, medicines, and industrial items. This development comes on the heels of the recent closure of Afghanistan's border with Pakistan due to military conflicts, which has hindered traditional trade routes. This initiative is part of broader efforts to enhance economic relations between India and Afghanistan despite ongoing regional challenges.
During the visit, Minister Azizi urged India to establish cargo hubs and strengthen trade connections, underscoring the pressing need for dependable transport solutions for Afghan enterprises. Indian officials highlighted that the air cargo route would offer faster, safer, and more reliable options, circumventing the delays and restrictions faced by existing land routes.
This initiative also signals both nations' desire to lessen Afghanistan's reliance on Pakistan for trade and improve regional connectivity. Indian authorities indicated that the cargo service is part of a comprehensive plan to back Afghan trade and bolster economic stability.
The air cargo initiative is set to benefit businesses in both countries by ensuring the swift delivery of crucial goods and reinforcing economic collaboration. Officials noted that discussions would continue to facilitate smooth operations and the potential expansion of trade relations in the future.
This agreement represents a significant advancement in India-Afghanistan relations, emphasizing practical economic solutions amidst the intricate regional landscape.
