India Denounces Iran’s Attack on UAE Oil Facility, Three Indians Injured

India Denounces Iran’s Attack on UAE Oil Facility, Three Indians Injured

Post by : Badri Ariffin

The Indian government has vehemently denounced Iran's recent missile and drone strike on the Fujairah Petroleum Industries Zone in the UAE, which resulted in injuries to three Indian citizens.

India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) labeled the assault as “unacceptable” and called for an urgent halt to attacks on civilian targets. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal emphasized India's commitment to dialogue and diplomatic efforts for restoring peace and stability in the West Asia region.

This incident escalates tensions between Iran and the United States. Reports from UAE officials indicated that Iran launched four cruise missiles into the region, three of which were intercepted by air defense systems, while the fourth fell into the sea.

Additionally, a drone strike sparked a fire at the crucial Fujairah Oil Industrial Zone, pivotal for UAE's oil exports. Emergency services promptly intervened to manage the fire. The three Indian nationals injured were promptly taken to the hospital and are currently reported to have moderate injuries.

The Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi is actively coordinating with local authorities to ensure the injured receive comprehensive medical care and support.

India has reiterated the necessity of secure navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping lane, expressing its readiness to assist in efforts aimed at achieving a peaceful resolution.

The UAE government has also condemned the attack, describing it as a significant threat to its national security and asserting the right to respond accordingly.

Fujairah's strategic significance lies in its ability to facilitate oil exports for the UAE via the Gulf of Oman, circumventing the Strait of Hormuz. This latest strike raises serious concerns regarding the escalating instability in the Gulf region, particularly regarding energy infrastructure and maritime security.

Tensions remain high, with the threat of further conflict in the area.
