Indonesia has conveyed enthusiastic endorsement of the recently passed United Nations Security Council resolution that backs U.S. President Donald Trump’s initiative to resolve the ongoing Gaza conflict and establish a global stabilization force. This places Indonesia among the nations advocating for a unified and inclusive international effort to cease violence and restore equilibrium in the region.
The resolution, put forth by the U.S. and adopted on Monday, lays down a blueprint aimed at achieving a permanent ceasefire, safeguarding civilians, and facilitating an international mission to restore order in Gaza. Additionally, the plan aims to boost diplomatic relations among Israel, Palestine, and the global community.
On Tuesday, Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs reiterated its support for the initiative. Ministry spokesperson Yvonne Mewengkang announced that Indonesia “welcomed the resolution” while stressing the imperative for “the involvement of all parties, especially the Palestinian Authority.” Her comments reflect Indonesia’s consistent stance that any sustainable peace endeavor must prioritize Palestinian representation and sovereignty.
As a prominent advocate for Palestinian rights in Asia, Indonesia sees this resolution as a potential inflection point — contingent only on the active and transparent participation of all involved stakeholders. Officials highlight that the effectiveness of the stabilization force is likely to hinge on international collaboration, humanitarian access, and a mutual commitment to honor the ceasefire.
The UNSC’s decision emerges against a backdrop of escalating global concern, as the Gaza conflict results in dire humanitarian consequences and intensifies international calls for an urgent ceasefire. If effectively deployed, the new stabilization force could assist in restoring vital services, helping displaced families, and setting the stage for constructive long-term diplomatic dialogue.
Analysts suggest that Indonesia’s response highlights its diplomatic approach: championing global peace initiatives while advocating for Palestinian leadership to be pivotal in any resolutions. This strategy aligns with Indonesia’s larger foreign policy goals and focus on human rights, stability, and multilateral diplomacy.
As discussions progress, Jakarta is likely to persist in its advocacy for humanitarian safeguards, inclusive politics, and accountability — principles it deems essential for attaining a lasting resolution in Gaza.
Under global scrutiny, the newly ratified resolution represents a significant milestone toward resolving one of the decade’s most devastating conflicts. The forthcoming months will reveal if international collaboration and political resolve can transform this plan into tangible advancements on the ground.
